Priority 1: a stable height-adjustable surface

The desk is the anchor. If the budget is tight, choose stability before extra features. A simple electric standing desk or a desktop converter can both work, but wobble is what makes people stop using the setup.

Priority 2: monitor height

Your screen should sit close to eye level when standing. A monitor arm, riser, or laptop stand can make a cheaper desk feel much better. This is often a better early upgrade than decorative accessories.

Priority 3: cable management

A standing desk moves, so the cables need slack and direction. Use a tray, sleeve, or adhesive clips to create one clean cable path. Test the desk at its highest height before finalizing anything.

Priority 4: the chair is still part of the setup

Standing all day is not the goal. A good setup lets you move between sitting and standing. Keep the chair comfortable, easy to roll, and aligned with your desk height.
