Create a daily landing zone
Pick one tray, basket, or drawer for the things that arrive during the day: receipts, sticky notes, cables, mail, and small tools. The point is to prevent those objects from spreading across the whole surface.
Separate active work from storage
Your desk should hold what you use today. Everything else needs a shelf, drawer, file box, or cabinet. This one distinction makes a workspace feel calmer immediately.
Hide cables in one path
Cable mess often looks worse than the actual clutter. Route cords through one tray or sleeve, then use clips to keep charging ends accessible.
Use labels sparingly
Labels are useful when more than one container looks the same. They are less useful when they turn the room into an office supply aisle. Label only what saves time.
End with a two-minute reset
At the end of the workday, put tools back, clear cups, return paper to the landing zone, and plug in the devices you need tomorrow. The next morning should not start with cleanup.
